  • I agree with what you are saying Dane, but remember, searching google is still only searching the content held within it's servers ... so, theoretically, if people are twittering their blog posts, you should be able to find them where you use google's search engine, or twitter's.

    But I agree about the blog being a more credible vehicle for writing, which was the point I was trying to make. I think twitter won't kill the blog at all, more remove most of the guff that can be said in 1-2 lines and leave the blogging platform open to more meaningful and structured pieces.
  • Haha! What ever the intention, quality of content, rationality behind it, getting traffic to your site is a form in itself and I was referring to the differences in application. Wasn't that what you were referring to? The best way to get people to see content? Or the best way to see content. Twitter or the blog + RSS. I was simply talking about the other way, searching, which at present is dominated by blog content.
  • Oh no Dane. You said the dreaded 'M' word. As soon as you bring Marketing into the equation intellect, rationality and aesthetics go out the window. I sincerely believe it's the evil that men do, or at least the thing they use to cover their tracks.

    I would like to add that twitter right now is not as accessible to search engines and does not have as many tools for optimization as a blog and for this reason blogs are more powerful on the long term for marketing and will not be overtaken by twitter.

    The blog is the best way to tell people about what you offer when they search for you, so I think its all about the search still. Twitter has its place for speed and hype and getting traffic fast but for real credibility the blog is the best. Though the way in which we use the net will most certainly change soon.
  • Hey guys, great episode.

    Interestingly, I was reading yesterday in the latest issue of UK Esquire about how a study undertaken by the universities of California and South Korea has discovered "a means of layering graphene (sheets of single carbon atoms) to create the world's thinnest electronics."

    What does this mean? Well, the graphene can be fixed to malleable plastics enabling a "digital newspaper that constantly updates itself throughout the day."

    Sounds coolio. Kinda like the ultimate e-reader you guys we're discussing/wishing for.

    Can't wait for the future, man. Especially excited about your next episode re: magazines! Yay!
